Where it runs

Every game server we run lives in Dallas, roughly central to North America, which keeps the delay between a click and what happens in game about even for players on either coast.

What is Team Fortress 2 server hosting?

Team Fortress 2 has been running for the better part of two decades, and most of what keeps it interesting now lives on community servers: 24/7 map rotations, jailbreak, surf, dodgeball, trade servers, Mann vs Machine, and pubs run by people who actually moderate them. A TF2 server is the machine yours runs on, with your maps, your plugins and your rules.

TF2 is light next to modern shooters, which is why a community server can be cheap and still feel good to play on. What matters is single-core speed and a short network route, so shots register when you think they should. High-clock AMD Ryzen 9 9950X processors in Dallas sit centrally enough to cover North America.

SourceMod and MetaMod are how nearly every custom TF2 gamemode is built. Neither is preinstalled here, so you put them on the server yourself and your plugin set goes on top. Custom maps upload over SFTP, and a FastDL host of your own is what stops players watching a slow download bar.

Why choose our Team Fortress 2 hosting?

Everything that makes a community server distinctive is a plugin, a map or a config, and you have file access to all three. Change the rotation, add a plugin, tweak a cvar - no waiting on a host to allow it.

TF2 does not need a big machine, so a full 24-slot pub costs about what a couple of coffees do. The money goes on chip speed and a short route rather than on cores that would sit idle.

You keep control of who plays and how it is moderated, which on TF2 is most of the job. Support is there when a plugin update breaks something at an unhelpful hour.

Protection from attacks

Rival servers sometimes get flooded with junk traffic to knock them offline. Cloudflare Magic Transit and CosmicGuard filter that out before it reaches you, and hardware filtering catches the sneakier attacks that pretend to be real players.

Real people, day and night

Tickets and Discord are answered around the clock by people who run game servers themselves. No scripts to read from, no waiting for office hours.

Backups you can roll back to

Your Team Fortress 2 server saves a copy of itself on a schedule, so a griefed world or a bad update is a restore rather than a disaster. Putting one back takes a couple of clicks in the panel, and you can download the files yourself any time with an SFTP app.

Questions

Team Fortress 2 hosting, answered.

24 is the classic pub size - twelve a side, busy without being chaos. 12-16 suits 6v6 practice with room for SourceTV, and 32 or more is for the deliberately silly end: big 2fort servers, trade servers, dodgeball. You set the number with maxplayers in your own config rather than buying a slot count, and the plans are sized by memory. Empty slots do not make a server faster, so pick a size you can fill.
Yes, and you install them yourself. The server ships as a plain srcds install, so MetaMod and SourceMod go on over SFTP or the file manager along with your plugin set. That is how jailbreak, surf timers, dodgeball, class limits and most of what makes a community server its own thing are built.
Yes. Upload them to the maps folder and add them to your rotation. Custom maps are only half the job though - set up FastDL as well, so players pull them from a web host on connect. The in-game download is slow enough that people leave rather than wait.
Yes. Mann vs Machine, jailbreak, surf, deathrun, dodgeball and the rest all run on an ordinary TF2 server given the right maps and plugins. MvM wants its own mission files and configs; most of the others are a plugin and a map rotation away.
What community servers have always done: a password or a whitelist for private sessions, SourceMod admin plugins for the rest, and admins who are actually in the server. Because it is your server you can set entry rules and ban on sight, which is not something public matchmaking will do on your behalf.
Yes, on every plan at no extra cost. Game servers in Dallas sit behind Cloudflare Magic Transit and CosmicGuard, so floods of junk traffic are thrown away before they reach the machine, and so are the subtler attacks that imitate real players. It is always on - there is nothing to switch on and no add-on to buy.
